Procedure

An oven-dried 50 mL one-necked round-bottomed flask was charged with compound 6d (0.013 g, 0.034 mmol) and THF (10 mL). HCl (3 mL of a 1 N aqueous solution) was added and the mixture was stirred at rt for 1 h. The consumption of the starting material was monitored by TLC (AcOEt/n-hexane 1:1). The reaction was basified to pH 7 by the dropwise addition of sat'd aq NaHCO3. The layers were separated and the aqueous phase was extracted with ether (3×15 mL). The combined organic layers were washed with brine (25 mL), dried over MgSO4, gravity filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to provide 0.006 g of the title compound as a yellow solid in 52% yield.
