A mixture of 3-(4-bromo-2-prop-1-yn-1-yl-1,3-thiazol-5-yl)-1-{[2-(trimethylsilyl)ethoxy]methyl}-1H-1,2,4-triazole (0.514 g, 1.29 mmol), 1-Aminopyridinium iodide (0.343 g, 1.54 mmol) and Potassium carbonate (0.231 g, 1.67 mmol) in N,N-Dimethylformamide (8.0 mL, 1.0E2 mmol) was stirred at r.t. for 29 hours. The mixture was quenched with ice water (80 mL), extracted with EtOAc 3 times. The combined EtOAc solution was washed with water, brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered and EtOAc/hexane (0/100 to 30/70) to afford a solid product. (0.410 g, 64.8% yield). LCMS: (FA) ES+491, 493. 1H NMR (400 MHz, d1-chloroform) δ 8.43-8.46 (m, 2H), 8.32 (s, 1H), 7.39-7.42 (m, 1H), 6.90-6.93 (m, 1H), 5.57 (s, 2H), 3.72-3.76 (m, 2H), 2.76 (s, 3H), 0.96-1.00 (m, 2H), 0.00 (s, 9H).
