Procedure

A mixture of 1-(2-phenylethyl)-2-propyl-2H-pyrazolo[3,4-c]quinolin-4-amine (prepared as described in Example 42, 400 mg, 1.21 mmol) and platinum (IV) oxide (200 mg) in trifluoroacetic acid (8 mL) was shaken under hydrogen pressure (50 psi, 3.4×105 Pa) on a Parr apparatus for 18 hours and worked up using the method described in Example 58 to afford 217 mg of 1-(2-cyclohexylethyl)-2-propyl-6,7,8,9-tetrahydro-2H-pyrazolo[3,4-c]quinolin-4-amine as a white powder, mp 173-174.5° C.
