Procedure
To a suspension of triphenylphosphine polymer supported (633 mg, 0.89 mmol) in THF (3 mL) was added a solution of methyl 5-((4-(azido(phenyl)methyl)phenoxy)-methyl)furan-2-carboxylate (293 mg, 0.81 mmol) in THF (6.1 mL) and H2O (0.12 mL). The reaction was stirred very slowly and heated at 60° C. for 18 h. Triphenylphosphine polymer supported (300 mg) and water (62 μL) were added and the heating was maintained at 60° C. for 5 h. The reaction was then allowed to cool to room temperature. The resin was removed by filtration, washed twice with THF and DCM. The combined organic phases were dried over MgSO4, filtered and the solvent removed in vacuo to give the title compound (301 mg) which was taken on to the next step without further purification.
