Calc for C10H5Cl2NO2 : C, 49.62; H, 2.08; N, 5.78. ##STR170## Oxalyl chloride (144 μL, 1.65 mmol) was added to a suspension of 1,4-dichloro-7-isoquinolinecarboxylic acid (200 mg, 0.83 mmol) at room temperature in CH2Cl2 (10 mL), followed by DMF (1 drop). After 30 min the resultant clear solution was evaporated in vacuo to afford 1,4-dichloro-7-isoquinolinecarbonyl chloride which was used without further purification.
