Procedure

4-Oxo-10-(pivalamido)-4H-pyrimido[1,2-C]quinazoline-3-carboxylic acid (1.31 g) was suspended in N,N-dimethylformamide (13 ml). To this suspension was added tris (hydroxymethyl)aminomethane (0.466 g) at ambient temperature. After one hour, the starting material was dissolved completely. To this solution ether was added and the precipitated crystals were collected by filtration and washed with ether to give tris-(hydroxymethyl)methyl-ammonium 4-oxo-10-(pivalamido)-4H-pyrimido[1,2-C]quinazoline-3-carboxylate (1.63 g).
