A solution of 2-(4-amino-phenyl)-3-cyclopentyl-N-pyridin-2-yl-propionamide (81.7 mg, 0.26 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (10 mL) at 25° C. was treated with N,N-diisopropylethylamine (0.11 mL, 0.63 mmol) and nicotinoyl chloride hydrochloride (47 mg, 0.26 mmol). The resulting reaction mixture was stirred at 25° C. for 48 h. At this time, the reaction was concentrated in vacuo. High pressure liquid chromatography (Chromegasphere SI-60, 10 μM, 60 Å, 25 cm×23 cm ID, 90/10 ethyl acetate/heptane) afforded N-{4-[2-cyclopentyl-1-(pyridin-2-ylcarbamoyl)-ethyl]-phenyl}-nicotinamide (40.9 mg, 21.7%) as a yellow solid: mp 160-163° C.; EI-HRMS m/e calcd for C25H26N4O2 (M+) 414.2055, found 414.2056.
