To a solution of the crude [[4-chloro-3-[[(tricyclo[3.3.1.13,7]dec-1-ylmethyl)amino]carbonyl]phenyl]methyl]phosphonic acid, dimethyl ester (2.50 g, Example 50a) in tetrahydrofuran (50 ml) at −78 ° C. was added a solution of lithium diisopropylamide (7.30 ml, 2M in tetrahydrofuran).
