Procedure

A mixture of 1-[6-(2,4-difluorophenoxy)pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridine-1-yl]ethanone (0.26 g) in 15 mL of 20% aqueous hydrochloric acid was heated for 3 hours on a steam bath, cooled, neutralized with NaHCO3, and extracted with CH2Cl2 to give 0.21 g of 6-(2,4-difluorophenoxy)-1H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridine (95% yield). Mass Spec. M+H=248.
