Triphenylphosphine (2.9 g, 11.0 mmol) was added portionwise to a solution of 5-(S)-azidomethyl-3-[4′-aminocarbonyl-3′-fluorophenyl]oxazolidine-2-one (2.8 g, 10.0 mmol) in THF (75 ml) under nitrogen atmosphere. The solution was stirred at 40° C. for 2 h, water (2.0 ml) added, and the reaction mixture was stirred at 40° C. overnight. Solvent was removed under vacuum, and the resulting solid was triturated with ether. Precipitated material was filtered, washed with ether and ethanol and dried under vacuum to afford the product as white crystals (1.7 g, 69%). HPLC Rt=5.0 min. MS (m/z): [M+H]+=254.
