Procedure

A mixture of Example 23D (145 mg; 0.36 mmol) in 3 mL THF at room temperature was treated with 10 drops of water and 3 drops of conc. HCl, stirred for 2 hours, and concentrated. The residue was partitioned between ethyl acetate and concentrated NaHCO3 (aq). The aqueous layer was extracted three times with ethyl acetate. The combined extracts were washed with brine, dried (MgSO4), filtered, and concentrated. The concentrate was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel with 10% methanol/dichloromethane to provide the desired product (59 mg, 68%).
