2 ml of methyl iodide were added to 0.67 g of triphenyl phosphite, and then the temperature of the reaction mixture was raised to reflux temperature, after which the reaction was continued for 1 hour at a bath temperature of 100° C. The temperature of the reaction mixture was reduced to room temperature, and then 0.5 g of 3-(5-hydroxy-4,6,7-trimethyl-1,3-benzoxathiole-2-yl)propanol (prepared as described in Example 71), 1 ml of methyl iodide and 0.5 ml of dimethylformamide were added to the reaction mixture. The reaction was continued for 3 days at room temperature. At the end of this time, the title compound, having the same properties as the product of (a) above, was obtained by the same treatment and separation procedures as in (a).
