Phenyl chloroformate (0.535 mL, 4.26 mmol) was added to 4-[4-[(3S)-3-methylmorpholin-4-yl]-6-[[2-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]sulfonylmethyl]pyrimidin-2-yl]aniline (1.4 g, 2.84 mmol) and sodium hydrogen carbonate (0.358 g, 4.26 mmol) in dioxane (20 mL) at 5° C. under nitrogen. The resulting mixture was stirred at RT for 2 hours then the reaction mixture diluted with ethyl acetate (200 mL), and washed with water (125 mL). The organic layer was dried (MgSO4), filtered and evaporated to afford crude product which was triturated with a mixture of diethyl ether and isohexane to give the desired material as a white solid (1.70 g).
