Procedure
In 10 ml of ethyl acetate were dissolved 435 mg of 2-(4-chlorobutyl)-2H-1,4-benzothiazin-3(4H)-one and 613 mg of 1-(4-fluorophenyl)piperazine. The solvent was evaporated off, and the residue was stirred at 110° C. for one hour. The reaction mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate, and the extract was washed with water and dried (MgSO4). After removal of the solvent, the residue was subjected to a column chromatography on silica-gel (40 g). From the eluate with hexane-ethyl acetate (1:1, v/v) was obtained 2-[4-[4-(4-fluorophenyl)-1-piperazinyl]butyl]-2H-1,4-benzothiazin-3(4H)-one. The yield was 293 mg (43.2%). Recrystallization from methanol gave prisms, m.p. 150°-151° C.
