To a mixture of 2-bromomethyl-2,3-dihydrobenzo[1,4]dioxine (0.2 g, 0.88 mmol) and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-8-carboxylic acid methyl ester (0.14 g, 0.88 mmol) in DMF (10 ml) was added K2CO3 (0.61 g, 4.41 mmol). The reaction mixture was heated under microwaves at 140° C. for 10 min. Water was then added and the mixture extracted with DCM (3×5 ml). The combined organic phases were dried (Na2SO4), filtered and the filtrate was evaporated to give the title compound, which was purified by column chromatography (DCM/MeOH, 95:5).
