A mixture of methanesulfonic acid (R)-5-hydroxy-2,3-dihydro-benzo[1,4]dioxin-2-ylmethyl ester (0.6 g, 1.69 mmol), benzyl bromide (0.4 g, 2.30 mmol) and potassium carbonate (1.14 g, 8.30 mmol) in acetone (30 ml) was refluxed under nitrogen atmosphere for 5 h. The crude product was crystallized from 2-propanol to yield 8.8 mg of the pure title compound.
