Procedure
With 330.0 kg of pure water, 35.6 kg of an aqueous potassium silicate solution (a SiO2 content of 19.9% by mass, manufactured by Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd.) was diluted, and then 18.1 kg of a 48% potassium hydroxide aqueous solution and 3.2 kg of antimony trioxide (manufactured by Mikuni Smelting & Refining Co., Ltd.) were added. To the mixture, 2.2 kg of 35% by mass of aqueous hydrogen peroxide was added with stirring, and the whole was reacted at 93° C. for 1 hour to obtain an aqueous solution of potassium silicate antimonate. With 1 kg of pure water, 427.5 g of the obtained potassium silicate antimonate aqueous solution was diluted, and passed through a column packed with a hydrogen form cation exchange resin (Amberlite IR-120B) to obtain 2703 g of an aqueous sol of antimony pentoxide-silica composite colloidal particles and an oligomer of them (pH 2.1, an Sb2O5 content of 0.64% by mass, a SiO2 content of 1.26% by mass, a SiO2/Sb2O5 mass ratio of 2.0). Subsequently, to the obtained aqueous sol, 10.2 g of diisopropylamine was added. The obtained sol was an alkaline aqueous sol of antimony pentoxide-silica composite colloidal particles and an oligomer of them and had a pH of 8.2. In the aqueous sol, colloidal particles having a primary particle diameter of 5 nm or less were observed under a transmission electron microscope.
