Ethyl 2-((2-chloro-6-fluorophenethyl)sulfonyl)-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1H-imidazole-5-carboxylate (54) was prepared in a similar manner as that described for the synthesis of compound 20 using ethyl 2-((2-chloro-6-fluorophenethyl)thio)-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1H-imidazole-5-carboxylate (53) (100 mg, 0.236 mmol), m-CPBA (122 mg, 0.708 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (10 mL).
