3.3 g of ethyl (7-isopropoxycarbonyl-6-methyl-5,6-dihydropyrrolo[2,1-b]thiazol-3-yl)acetate was added to 60 ml of a 40% aqueous solution of monomethylamine and stirred at 20° C. for 24 hours. The precipitate was collected by filtration, washed with water, dried, and recrystallized from ethanol. Thus 2.2 g of the title compound was obtained.
