Tert-butyl 4-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)-5,6-dihydropyridine-1(2H)-carboxylate (10 g) is dissolved in dichloromethane (100 mL) and 5 M HCl in isopropanol (120 mL) and stirred for 12 hours. The solvents are evaporated, the residue is redissolved in toluene and the solvent is again evaporated to give the title compound. Yield: 8 g; LC (method 11): tR=0.68 min; Mass spectrum (ESI+): m/z=210 [M+H]+.
