Procedure
1.3 g of 4-(3-bromophenoxy)butanoic acid, 8 ml of liquid isobutene and 2 drops of sulfuric acid are placed in a pressure-resistant reactor. The reactor is closed and stirred at room temperature for 16 hours. The residual pressure is released gently and the product is taken up with ethyl acetate and sodium bicarbonate solution. The organic phase is washed with water and then dried and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the expected ester in the form of a colorless liquid (yield=94%).
