A mixture of 4-methyl-2-thiazol-2-yl-pyrimidine-5-carboxylic acid (221 mg, 1 mmol), 5-fluoro-3-methyl-indol-1-yl-ammonium chloride (200 mg, 1 mmol) and N-methylmorpholine (101 mg, 1 mmol) in DMF (5 mL) is stirred at rt for 5 min. 4-(4,6-Dimethoxy-[1,3,5]triazin-2-yl)-4-methyl-morpholin-4-ium chloride (277 mg, 1 mmol) is added and the reaction is heated to 50° C. for 4 h. The reaction mixture is then poured into water (50 mL). The precipitate is collected via filtration and dried in vacuo to provide 4-methyl-2-thiazol-2-yl-pyrimidine-5-carboxylic acid (5-fluoro-3-methyl-indol-1-yl)-amide (68%). MS: 368 (M+H); 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3): δ=2.27 (s, 3H), 2.76 (s, 3H), 7.06 (dt, 1H), 7.35-7.38 (m, 2H), 7.42-7.47 (m, 1H), 8.07 (d, 1H), 8.14 (d, 1H), 9.22 (s, 1H), 11.9 (s, 1H).
