1N HCl (5 mL) was added to 1-(2-chloro-4-methyl-quinolin-6-yl)-3-(4-methyl-pyridin-3-yl)-imidazolidin-2-one (21A: 50 mg, 0.1418 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at 120° C. overnight. The reaction mass was cooled to 0° C., aqueous NaHCO3 was added till a pH of about 8 was attained. The reaction mixture was extracted with chloroform. The organic layer was dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated to afford 38 mg of the product (80.85% yield).
