To a solution of 1-(diphenylmethyl)-7-fluoro-3-hydroxy-3-(7-hydroxy-2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodioxin-6-yl)-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one (4.27 g, 8.8 mmol) in trifluoroacetic acid (100 mL) at 0° C. was added triethylsilane (2.8 mL, 18 mmol) and the reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo. The crude product was purified by column chromatography and eluted with a 0% to 66% gradient of ethyl acetate in hexanes to afford 1-(diphenylmethyl)-7-fluoro-3-(7-hydroxy-2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodioxin-6-yl)-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one (2.5 g, 61%) as a colorless solid: MS (ES+) m/z 465.9 (M+1).
