To a stirred room temperature solution of tert-butyl 2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-benzo[b]azepin-4-ylcarbamate (39.3 mg, 0.15 mmol) in 1,2-dichloroethane (4 mL) was added benzenesulfonyl chloride (26.4 mg, 0.15 mmol). After 16 hours the mixture was evaporated to dryness to yield tert-butyl 1-(phenylsulfonyl)-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-benzo[b]azepin-4-ylcarbamate.
