To a solution of 1 tert-butyl 1-(phenylsulfonyl)-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-benzo[b]azepin-4-ylcarbamate in dichloromethane (2 mL) was added HCl (4 M in 1,4-dioxane, 2 mL, 8.0 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 20 hours before being filtered and evaporated to dryness to yield 1-(phenylsulfonyl)-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-benzo[b]azepin-4-amine.
