Procedure
2.42 g (0.007 mol) of ethyl 7,8-dichloro-1-(1-hydroxy-2-propyl)-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-1,6-naphthyridine-3-carboxylate are heated with 1.15 g (0.0083 mol) of potassium carbonate in 14 ml of dimethylformamide at 80° C. for one hour. After addition of ice-water the precipitated product is isolated. The crude product is purified by column chromatography (eluent: dichloromethane/methanol 98:2).
