Procedure
One gram of 3,7,11-trimethyltrideca-2,4-dienoic acid in 30 ml. of benzene and one mole of sodium hydride is stirred about two hours and then a slight excess of oxalyl chloride is added at about 0° and stirred for one hour. The product is worked up by removal of solvent in vacuo and extraction with pentane to yield 3,7,11-trimethyltrideca2,4-dienoyl chloride.
