Procedure

A mixture of ethyl N-(3-hydroxy-4-methoxycarbonylphenyl)formimidate (6.6 g, 0.03 mol) and N-methylaniline (3.2 g, 0.03 mol) were heated at 150° until 1.7 mol of ethanol had been collected by distillation. The pale yellow oil was flash distilled to yield the desired product, bp≈200° C. (0.1 mm). ##STR16##
