Procedure
A solution of 1.30 g of 8-[(4'-fluoro-4-biphenylyl)ethynyl]-1,4-dioxaspiro[4.5]decane in 30 ml of tetrahydrofuran was stirred with 3.5 ml of 3N hydrochloric acid for 2.4 hours. The reaction mixture was diluted with diethyl ether, washed with saturated sodium hydrogen carbonate solution and with saturated sodium chloride solution, dried over sodium sulphate, filtered and concentrated. 1.11 g of 4-[(4'-fluoro-4-biphenylyl)ethynyl]cyclohexanone were obtained.
