Procedure

A solution of formamide (0.5047 g, 11.2 retool), PdBr2 (0.165 g, 0.62 mmol) in 25 mL of benzonitrile was stirred at reflux for 16 hours. At the end of this time, it was found that 0.29 mmol of HCN was produced. Benzamide was also produced.
