Procedure
To a solution of 8-(4-hydroxymethyl-bicyclo[2.2.2]oct-1-yl)-1-propyl-3,7-dihydro-purine-2,6-dione (0.2 g, 0.60 mmol) in DMF (4 ml) was added NaH (60% dispersion in mineral oil, 0.079 g, 1.98 mmol) at room temperature followed by 2-bromo-5-chloro-pyridine and maintained at 120° C. overnight. Reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure quenched with water and was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate and concentrated under vacuum. The crude product was purified by column chromatography using 2% methanol in dichloromethane as solvent system.
