Procedure

To a round bottomed flask was added (4-chlorophenyl)(2-(3-((4-methoxybenzyloxy)methyl)-5-methylisoxazol-4-yl)phenyl)methanone (69 mg, 0.154 mmol), DCM, and water. This solution was cooled to 0° C. before addition of DDQ (69.9 mg, 0.308 mmol) and the reaction stirred at 0° C. for 4 h before addition of NaHCO3 solution. The layers were separated and the aqueous extracted with DCM. The combined organics were dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated. The crude residue was purified via Biotage (EtOAc/hex) to afford (4-chlorophenyl)(2-(3-(hydroxymethyl)-5-methylisoxazol-4-yl)phenyl)methanone. LC/MS m/z 328 [M+H]+.
