{(S)-6-[(R)-7-Fluoro-4-(3-methoxybenzyl)-indan-1-yloxy]-2,3-dihydrobenzofuran-3-yl}-acetic acid methyl ester (30 mg) is dissolved in tetrahydrofuran (4 mL) and 1 N aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (0.4 mL) is added. The mixture is stirred at room temperature overnight and then acidified with 1 N aqueous hydrochloric acid (0.4 mL). The solution is submitted to HPLC on reversed phase (MeCN/water) to give the title compound. LC (method 6): tR=0.71 min; Mass spectrum (ESI−): m/z=447 [M−H]−.
