1.41 g of 3-[2-(t-butoxycarbonylamino)ethoxy]benzonitrile was dissolved in 20 ml of 4 N solution of hydrogen chloride in dioxane, and the obtained solution was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. The solvent was evaporated, and the residue was suspended in dichloromethane. The obtained suspension was filtered to obtain hydrochloride of the title compound.
