Procedure
The above aziridine (4.4 g, 0.02 mol) in 50 ml of acetone is stirred under reflux with 3.5 g of sodium iodide for three hours and evaporated in vacuo. The residue is partitioned in 150 ml of methylene dichloride and 50 ml of 20% aqueous sodium carbonate solution. The organic layer is separated, dried (MgSO4) and evaporated in vacuo. The resulting solid is recrystallized from acetonitrile to give 2.5 g of the title compound, mp 169°-172° C.
