Procedure
To a stirred solution of 4.53 g of ethyl N-(((5-chloro-8-quinolinyl)oxy)carbonyl)glycinate (prepared as described in Example 1) in 80 ml of isopropanol was added a solution of 1.56 g methanesulfonic acid in 10 ml of isopropanol. The resulting solution was cooled to about 0° C. to yield a white solid which was isolated and recrystallized from ethanol to give the purified ethyl N-(((5-chloro-8-quinolinyl)oxy)carbonyl)glycinate methanesulfonic acid salt as white fibrous crystals, m.p. 108°-110° C.
Workup
