A mixture of 2.1 g. of 2,6-dimethyl-5,7dichloro-benzoxazole and 2 g. of ethyl-p-toluene-sulfonate was heated at 150° C. for 30 minutes. By cooling, a pick cake was obtained. It was ground in a mortar by washing repeatedly with ethyl ether. The product, thus obtained, was dried and used without further purification for the synthesis of dyes.
