A solution tert-butyl 4-(2-oxooctahydro-1H-benzimidazol-1-yl)piperidine-1-carboxylate (1 g) in dichloromethane (20 mL) was added with TFA (5 mL) and stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure to provide the titled compound as its TFA salt. The salt was then transformed to freebase by MP-carbonate and used without any purification.
