Triethylamine (0.29 g, 2.8 mmol) was added to a solution of 4-bromo-1-(phenylsulfonyl)-1H-indol-5-ol (Intermediate 21, 0.67 g, 1.9 mmol) and acetyl chloride (0.22 g, 2.8 mmol) in THF (10 mL). The mixture was stirred for 10 minutes at room temperature and evaporated. The residue was partitioned between DCM and saturated aqueous NaHCO3. The reaction mixture was washed with saturated aqueous NaHCO3, and the organic phase was dried (MgSO4) and evaporated to give the title compound (0.6 g) as a red solid. MS m/z 394/396 [M+H]+.
