Procedure

Concentrated sulphuric acid (1 mL) was added dropwise to a stirred solution of compound of Example 18 (0.5 g, 1.18 mmol) in dry isopropanol (50 mL) at 90° C. The reaction mixture was stirred at 90° C. for 2 h. Solvent was removed and the residue was taken in chloroform (100 mL) and this was neutralized using sodium carbonate solution (10%). Chloroform layer was washed with water, brine and dried over sodium sulphate. Solvent was removed and the product obtained was converted to hydrochloride salt by using isopropanol/ethereal-HCl to obtain the title compound. Yield: 0.4 g (67.79%); mp: 262-64° C.; 1H NMR (DMSO-d6, 300 MHz): δ 1.29 (d, 6H, 2CH3), 2.63 (s, 3H, CH3), 3.18 (bs, 4H, 2CH2), 3.44 (bs, 4H, 2CH2), 5.11 (s, 1H, CH), 5.17 (s, 2H, CH2), 7.19 (s, 2H, Ar), 8.07 (s, 1H, Ar), 8.11 (s, 1H, Ar), 9.45 (bs, 2H, NH, HCl); MS: m/e (ES+) 465 (M+1, free base).
