Procedure
A mixture of 1-aminopyrene (5 g), potassium carbonate (15 g) and ethyl 6-bromohexanoate (10 g) in 60 mL acetonitrile was refluxed for 24 hours. The solvent was removed and the product was purified by a silica gel column eluting with EtOAc/hexane.
