A mixture of bis(3-isobutylphenyl)methanol (2.87 g) and oxalyl chloride (1 ml) in dichloromethane (10 ml) was stirred at 25° C. for 2 hours. After evaporation of the solvent, the oily residue was distilled to give bis(3-isobutylphenyl)chloromethane (2.45 g) as pale yellow oil.
