To a mixture of 4-Cyano-benzyl bromide (12 mg, 0.06 mmol), 7-chloro-5-piperidin-4-ylmethyl-2-(4-trifluoromethoxy-benzyl)-2,3-dihydro-isoindol-1-one (30.0 mg, 0.06 mmol) and potassium carbonate (42 mg, 0.3 mmol) was added acetonitrile (3.0 mL). The mixture was allowed to stir at room temperature overnight. Water (2.0 mL) was added and the product was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with water, brine, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated. Column chromatography provided the title compound as a brown oil (39.0 mg, 99%). 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3): δ 7.60 (d, 2H), 7.27-7.59 (m, 4H), 7.17-7.20 (m, 3H), 7.05 (s, 1H), 4.77 (s, 2H), 4.22 (s, 2H), 3.53 (s, 2H), 2.80-2.84 (m, 2H), 2.58-2.60 (m, 2H), 1.91 (t, 21, 1.56-1.62 (m, 3H), 1.27-1.34 (m, 2H).
