Procedure
To a mixture of 3-(1,2-dihydro-2,6,7-trimethyl-1-oxo-4-phenylisoquinolin-3-yl)propionic acid (Reference Example 10) (650 mg), triethylamine (0.30 ml) and benzene (20 ml) was added, while stirring at room temperature, diphenyl phosphoryl azide (0.30 ml). This mixture was stirred for 30 minutes at room temperature, then for one hour by heating under reflux. To the reaction mixture was added ethyl acetate, which was washed with water, dilute hydrochloric acid, an aqueous solution of sodium hydrogencarbonate and water, successively, followed by drying (MgSO4). The solvent was distilled off to afford the title compound as a colorless crystals (623 mg).
