4-(4-Methoxystyryl)benzyl bromide was prepared from 55 g. of 4-(4-methoxystyryl)benzyl alcohol and hydrogen bromide in 750 ml. of methylene dichloride according to the procedure of Example 1, part (e); yield 50 g., m.p. 147°-148° C. when recrystallized from ethyl acetate.
