Following a procedure similar to that described in Example 45(a), but using 1.026 g of 4-butyryl-2-propylimidazole-5-carbonitrile (prepared as described in Preparation 28), 1.91 g of t-butyl 4'-(bromomethyl)biphenyl-2-carboxylate and 0.209 g of sodium hydride (as a 55% w/w dispersion in mineral oil) in 20 ml of N,N-dimethylacetamide, 1.70 g of the title compound were obtained as a viscous oil.
