A mixture of the ester 25-4 (170 mg, 0.51 mmol), CH3OH (10 mL), and 1N NaOH (5 mL) was stirred for 20 hours at ambient temperature. The cooled reaction mixture was acidified with 1N HCl (5 mL) and extracted with EtOAc. The EtOAc portion was concentrated to give 25-5 as a gelataneous solid.
