The above experiment was repeated, except that the xylose isomerase was bound on an alumina carrier. The same dextrose feed liquor, pre-adjusted to a pH of 8.3 - 8.4 with 4 N NaOH, was pumped through the column, which was maintained at a temperature of 58°C, at a rate to provide 45% by weight levulose, dry basis, in the effluent.
