The experimental procedure is the same as described above for the corresponding piperidine derivative using 1′-benzyl-5-chloro-3H-spiro[1-benzofuran-2,3′-pyrrolidine] (555 mg, 1.85 mmol), ethyl chloroformate (261 mg, 2.4 mmol), toluene (5 mL), potassium hydroxide (KOH) (3.0 g), water (3 mL) and ethanol (6 mL) to give the titled compound (240 mg) after silica gel flash chromatography (0-2% methanol in dichloromethane, 0.2% ammonium hydroxide, NH4OH).
